With her production company, simpatiko FILM WORKS, Vickie Patik launches a ground-breaking book and documentary that mines the intersection of science and social policy. IS WAR INEVITABLE explores the possibility of peace with world renowned scientists, experts in religion and the humanities, including Nobel Laureates, in a controversial debate that covers everything from military science and primatology to the miracle of neuroplasticity and religious faith. Patik brings a wealth of experience to her media company. The philosophy major turned thespian enjoyed a 10-year career as a musical theatre performer in LA and New York. She returned to Los Angeles to write screenplays for television and film, and won the Emmy, Writers Guild, Humanitas and Christopher Awards for her first produced script, an original story Do You Remember Love, starring Joanne Woodward and Richard Kiley. Her Cinderella debut was crowned with 13 more produced films and numerous awards, including two more Writer’s Guild nominations (a second win) and a second Christopher Award. Patik debuted as a director with her comedy film Now Or Never through a grant from the Directing Workshop for Women at The American Film Institute. She followed this with numerous theatrical directing assignments as well as acting roles. She then went on to learn editing and has been directing, producing and editing video productions for the last five years. Vickie Patik has been honored as a YMCA Woman of Achievement and was Bishop Amat High School’s charter Alumna of the Year. She is a member of Actors Equity, The Writers Guild, Screen Actors Guild, The Alliance of Women Directors and The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
